National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) and iStratify Technologies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening youth participation in Nigeria’s democratic and legislative processes through technology, capacity building and evidence-based initiatives.
The MoU was signed during an engagement between the Director General of NILDS, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, and a delegation from iStratify Technologies led by Mr. Israel Ajiboye, alongside Usman Yahya and Emmanuel Agwom.
The partnership is expected to leverage digital solutions and structured training to bridge the gap between young Nigerians and legislative governance, while equipping them with the knowledge and skills required for meaningful participation in democratic processes.
Speaking during the engagement, Prof. Sulaiman emphasised the need to address structural barriers limiting the participation of young people and women in governance, particularly the high cost of political participation and limited representation in decision-making.
He reaffirmed NILDS’ commitment to promoting inclusive and effective democratic governance through research, advocacy, capacity development and strategic partnerships.
The collaboration is expected to provide innovative platforms for youth engagement and contribute to the development of a more informed, active and inclusive generation of democratic participants in Nigeria.
