Leadership & mandate

Custodian of the Institute's funds

Responsible for the receipt, custody, disbursement and accounting of all funds received and expended by the Institute.

The Department provides financial advice to the Director-General, Management and other staff, and handles the financial aspects of all NILDS' collaboration with international development partners.

Mr. Ibrahim is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administrators of Nigeria, and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He was Internal Audit Manager of the Policy Analysis and Research Project from 2007 to 2012, and Deputy Director of Finance and Administration from 2012 until his appointment as Director in 2019.

Structure

Three units

Budget & Cash Office

Preparation of the annual budget
Monitoring of budget performance and variance analysis
Disbursement of funds and cash handling
Liaising with commercial banks

Final Accounts Unit

Preparation of statutory financial statements and reports to the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation
Preparation of other financial reports to Management and the Institute's Governing Council
Bank reconciliation reports
Attending to external auditors by providing necessary records and materials

Inventory Control

Receipt and custody of materials and supplies ordered by the Institute
Attending to stationery and other requests made by Departments
Issuance of materials and supplies to Departments
Determining re-order levels of store items and advising Management
