National Quiz Competition on Legislature and Democracy
A nationwide schools competition run by NILDS to deepen young Nigerians' understanding of the Legislature, civic responsibility and democratic governance.
About the Competition
The National Quiz Competition on Legislature and Democracy is an annual civic education programme organised by NILDS for senior secondary school students. First introduced in 2016 for schools within the Federal Capital Territory, it was expanded nationwide in 2022 following a directive of the Institute's Governing Council.
The competition provides continual education on the Legislature, broadening students' knowledge of its history, practices and procedures, and building a deeper understanding of civic and democratic governance among young Nigerians.
How It Works
State Level
Participating schools compete within their state, coordinated with state Ministries of Education, to select a state champion.
Zonal Level
State champions advance to zonal contests representing each of the six geopolitical zones — North-Central, North-East, North-West, South-East, South-South and South-West.
National Grand Finale
Zonal winners meet in Abuja for the national final, where the overall winner is decided before the Institute's leadership and invited dignitaries.
